Despite the Mainstream Narrative, Natural Health is an Integral Part of Healthcare

By Julie Whitman Kline

(Tinley Park, Illinois) Wednesday, September 1, 2021 —  Julie Whitman Kline, President and CEO of Trinity School of Natural Health and Producer of the Trinity Health Freedom Expo, outlines theCOVID-19 Pandemic, health and wellness, and the bigger priority in her new opinion article Despite the Mainstream Narrative, Natural Health is an Integral Part of Healthcare.

Since the COVID-19 Pandemic began, health and wellness have become a bigger priority than usual. Unfortunately, if you are tuning in to the mainstream sources, you may think that health comes from medication, masks, or shots.

Unfortunately, far too many people disregard the lifestyle choices that lead to illness in the first place. While some found a new appreciation for vitamins or minerals that have been shown to improve the immune response, natural health goes beyond this symptomatic approach.

For many, natural health practices are woven into a well-balanced and wholesome life. Although many people view natural health with hesitancy and sometimes even suspicion or fear, it is a widely utilized and safe practice. Natural health includes eating nutritious foods, drinking adequate water, getting enough sleep, exercising, seeking wellness support or guidance, and generally taking care of your body, mind, and spirit.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, “up to 40 percent of annual deaths from each of five leading U.S. causes are preventable.” These chronic diseases are heavily influenced by lifestyle choices, the same daily decisions that natural health practitioners guide clients on at every appointment. This is where natural health and traditional medicine can establish a symbiotic relationship. Holistic approaches can refocus people away from a “quick-fix” attitude and understand the importance of healthy living.

For years it has been said that the United States spends more on healthcare than any other country yet has some of the lowest levels of health. If the emphasis can shift from symptom-based care that requires a person to have already developed a problem to a proactive approach where individuals take ownership of their wellness, then long-term results and quality of life are likely to increase.

It is important to understand the difference between healthcare and “sick care.” Holistic practices focus on obtaining and maintaining health through natural methods. Modern medicine is excellent at treating injuries and major diseases, but preventative strategies are not typically a priority. If you are in an accident or develop a serious condition, traditional medicine will shine.

There is a time and place for both natural and traditional healthcare fields, and individuals should have the right to choose what’s best for them in each situation. Personal liberties, like health freedom, are important because they allow individuals to make their own decisions without fear of repercussions, threat, or coercion. As a nation and as healthcare professionals, we have more resources, knowledge, and skills than ever before. Being forced to do anything involving our health or not having access to information to know the available options is a tragedy.

We often stress the need for children and adolescents to understand the importance of critical thinking, yet adults should do the same. Analyzing the recent changes in healthcare, understanding the differences between laws and mandates, and knowing where to turn for accurate information can be daunting, so it is normal to have questions.

At the Trinity Health Freedom Expo, we believe each person has “the right to know and freedom to choose” what is best for their health and wellness. Natural health plays a valuable role in health care. As more people take accountability for their wellness, it will continue to grow.
