CBS 48 Hours: Live To Tell to air episode Sole Survivor, Holly K. Dunn on 20th Anniversary of Railroad Killer

(Washington, D.C.) On Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 PM ET, CBS 48 Hours: Live To Tell will air Holly K. Dunn‘s Sole Survivor story. It was August 28, 1997, 20 years ago, when she and her boyfriend were the victims of the notorious serial killer Angel Maturino Reséndiz, aka The Railroad Killer.  The episode will feature Holly’s story from that night that would change her journey forever. The 48 Hours: Live To Tell  sole survivor is speaking about her journey this anniversary, sharing private, never before heard, version of what happened on that day in August 1997. Her new book, Sole Survivor, will be released this November 7, 2017.  Holly’s story as the sole survivor of this heinous act has brought healing and which established Holly’s House setting out to impact the lives of victims from vicious assaults and horrific crimes.

The victim of a violent physical and sexual assault and witness to her boyfriend’s murder, Holly has become a beacon of hope and inspiration to many.
Miraculously living to tell her story, Holly motivates others to reclaim their lives after assault, and to help her community build a network of healing and outreach. Holly’s passion to advocate for other victims of violence is extraordinary, and it is this passion that has allowed her and organizations that she is a part of to reach so many people.

Holly’s work includes being the spokesperson for Holly’s House a local sexual abuse and domestic violence advocacy center which she co-founded in her hometown of Evansville, IN. That passion later evolved into her current full-time work as a motivational speaker and trainer, using her own experience and uplifting message to inspire and enlighten.

About Erin Merryn: After suffering years of sexual abuse for six years of her childhood Erin broke her silence when she was 13 at a Children’s Advocacy Center. The place Erin reclaimed her voice and began her journey to healing. Erin has spoken at over 60 CAC’s.

In 2008 she began writing legislators to require personal body safety be taught to kids in school. This decision has brought her on a crusade across America to pass what is known as Erin’s Law. Erin’s Law is the first US child sexual abuse prevention education law requiring children be educated in schools. Erin has been traveling state to state testifying to lawmakers to pass Erin’s law for 7 years. It is currently passed in 31 states as of July 2017. In December 2015 President Obama signed the federal version of Erin’s Law providing federal funding for schools to use. Release of those funds is still pending.

About Michele Rigby Assad: Michele Rigby Assad is a former undercover officer in the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Operations. Trained as a counterterrorism specialist, Michele served her country for ten years, working in Iraq and other secret Middle Eastern locations.

Upon retirement from active service, Michele and her husband Joseph (also a former agent) joined a group of Americans who wished to aid persecuted Christians. Their efforts resulted in the evacuation of a group from northern Iraq that was featured on ABC’s 20/20 in December 2015.

Michele holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Arab Studies from Georgetown University. Today she serves as an international security consultant, splitting her time between the Middle East, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

About Melanie Collette: 

Melanie Collette has worked as Business Technology Teacher and an Adjunct Professor at Rowan University for the past few years. Holding a Bachelors in Business Administration, a Master’s in Public Administration, and currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Administration, Melanie has ensured that she is well-informed on public policy standards and
trends.

Melanie’s political career began in 2011 when started volunteering on a local campaign in varying capacities including campaign treasurer, social media manager, and call center manager. During the 2016 election cycle, Melanie served as one of New Jersey’s six Vice Chairs on the Marco Rubio campaign and was appointed as to the electoral slate in New Jersey for President Trump. Melanie currently serves as 1st Vice President of the New Jersey Federation of Republican Women.

In addition to her political and academic activities, Melanie is a contributing writer for The Horn News and PolitiChicks. Melanie also hosts her own internet radio show, “MoneyTalk with Melanie” on SHR Media and High Plains Pundit Talk Radio.
